Odey Asset Management's strong 2012 continued last month, when the hedge fund posted a well-above-average 4% to bring its year-to-date returns to 28%.

The US$545 million UK Absolute Return Fund profited from bets on Sports Direct International, Sky Deutschland and a short bet against Apple Inc., ValueWalk reports.

Odey's other funds are doing less well, but were still up, both in October and on the year. The Opus Fund added 2% last month and is up 5.6% on the year, while the firm's Continental Fund rose 2.5% in October and is up 5.4% on the year.
