Soros Euro. Equities Trader Out

Jan 3 2013 | 10:29am ET

Soros Fund Management's top European stock trader has left the firm, a year-and-a-half after it became a family office.

Robert Donald had run European equities portfolios from London prior to his exit at the end of last year, the Financial Times reports. Donald, who joined Soros in 2009 from GLG Partners, focuses on industrials and basic materials.

Donald joined Soros to launch a new European equities effort. Soros plans to replace him; both his plans and those of his team at Soros remain unclear.

At GLG, Donald managed part of the firm's flagship hedge fund.
