Hedge Funds Add 0.99% In Dec.

Hedge funds ended 2012 with broad-based gains, according to the Dow Jones Credit Suisse Core Hedge Fund Index.

The benchmark returned 0.99% in December.

All seven of the strategies tracked by the Dow Jones Credit Suisse suite were up last month. Event-driven funds and emerging markets funds did best, rising 2.14% and 1.34%, respectively. Managed futures funds brought up the rear with a 0.15% return in December.
