Florida’s former top securities regulator has joined a hedge fund consultancy.

Bill Reilly was named an associate director at Oyster Consulting, a hedge fund regulatory compliance firm. The former head of the Florida Bureau of Securities Regulation will seek to use his ties to state and federal regulators on behalf of clients, who will include hedge funds, investment advisers and broker-dealers.

Among the services Reilly will offer is assistance with regulatory examinations, both on- and offsite.

"Over the past 30 years, I've not only enforced statutes, regulations and administrative rules, I've helped develop them, including amending SEC rules 17a-3 and 17a-4," Reilly said. "Consequently, I understand the thought processes and background information that guide the creation of regulations, and I will help investment professionals use this knowledge to protect their clients and their firms."
