CTAs Up In March

Commodity trading advisers and hedge funds were broadly higher in March, according to agency broker and clearing firm Newedge Group.

Eight of the firm's 11 hedge fund indices were up last month, with the Newedge Trend Index rising 1.89% (3.68% year-to-date) and the Newedge CTA Index rising 1.29% (2.87% YTD). Macro and commodity funds were also higher, rising 0.51% (1.52% YTD) and 1.22% (1.02% YTD), respecitvely.

Commodity equity funds did best last month, soaring 9.71% (1.283% YTD). Volatility trading funds were worst, down 0.81% (down 2.58% YTD).
