Bloomberg: Hedge Funds Add 0.5% In April

Hedge funds rose in April—but not by much.

The average fund returned 0.5% last month, according to the Bloomberg Hedge Funds Aggregate Index. The benchmark is now up 3.2% on the year, far behind the broader markets; the Standard & Poor's 500 Index is up by double-digits after returning 1.8% last month.

Macro funds added 0.7% in April and are up 1.4% in 2013. Multi-strategy funds rose 0.3% on the month (2% year-to-date), and long/short equity funds 0.1% (3.9% YTD).
