Private equity firm Riverstone Holdings has hired John Browne, the former chief executive of BP PLC, as a managing director of Riverstone Europe. Riverstone said it will be opening a London office where Browne will be based.
David Leuschen and Pierre Lapeyre, Jr., co-founders of Riverstone Holdings, said, “We’ve known, worked with and respected John Browne for nearly 25 years. We are looking forward to Lord Browne helping us expand our existing energy practice and identifying new opportunities in the alternative and renewable energy markets.”
Riverstone Holdings was founded in 2000 and invests in the midstream, upstream, power, oilfield services, and renewable sectors of the energy industry.
