May 8 2013 | 12:54pm ET

San Francisco-based fund administrator Conifer Fund Services will open a fund administration office in Halifax, Nova Scotia as part of its strategy to grow in North America.

"We chose Halifax for our strategic growth plan," said Jack McDonald, Conifer president and CEO. "Halifax will become our key center for hedge fund administration because it has a highly educated and skilled labor force, low staff turnover and a high quality of life."

According to KPMG, Halifax is the fastest-growing hedge fund administration center in Canada.

Established in 1989, The Conifer Group provides services to the hedge fund industry including global fund accounting and administration, middle office, prime brokerage and execution services. In addition to its headquarters, the firm has offices in New York and the British Virgin Islands.
