Latham & Watkins Demystifies Hedge Fund Jargon

May 30 2013 | 8:29am ET

If you've ever scratched your head over the wording in a hedge fund prospectus, help may now be as close as your phone.

International law firm Latham & Watkins has launched the Book of Jargon—Hedge Funds, a 900+ word glossary of hedge fund slang, legal and regulatory terminology, and acronyms, as a free app for Apple devices.

The glossary covers the A to Z of hedge fund deal terms—from 'A/B exchange' to 'Zero Coupon Bond.

Latham’s hedge fund task force, comprised of corporate, finance and litigation lawyers with extensive experience advising the hedge fund industry, led the development of this app. Said Stephen Wink, corporate partner and task force co-chair, in a statement:

“As we continue to grow our hedge fund practice and develop and share our expertise in this area, we are excited to offer this innovative tool to the hedge fund industry. This app provides an encyclopedia of information readily available for busy executives on the go.”

The hedge fund glossary is the latest in Latham's Book of Jargon series, which has already demystified European capital markets and bank finance, global M&A, global restructuring, US corporate and bank finance, master limited partnerships and US project finance terms and acronyms. The firm also offers a global merger regime app.
