Dallas Private-Equity Firm Sets Up Hedge Fund

Jun 3 2013 | 1:28pm ET

Private-equity firm SunTx Capital Partners has gone into the hedge fund business.

The Dallas-based firm's founding partners have launched a new hedge fund manager, IXTHYS Capital Management. The new firm will be based at SunTx's headquarters, but will be managed separately from the p.e. firm.

IXTHYS is led by Ron Dodson, who joins the firm from NorCap Investment Management. Dodson will serve as the new firm's portfolio manager; SunTx's founding partners have put up its initial capital.

IXTHYS will focus on Dodson's specialty, trading listed derivatives.

"We are pleased to announce the formation of IXTHYS Premium Alpha Fund and our new strategic partnership with Ron Dodson, whom I have known and respected for a very long time," SunTx's Ned Flemming said. "We are very excited about this opportunity.”
