Soros Execs. Give To GOP N.J. Gov.

Jun 7 2013 | 11:34am ET

George Soros may be among the biggest donors to the U.S. Democratic Party there is, but he's nursing a veritable fan club for one of the Republican Party's biggest stars at his family office.

Five executives at the liberal stalwart's Soros Fund Management—including his chief investment officer, Scott Bessent—have given a combined $19,000 to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is up for reelection in November. Like Soros, Bessent generally gives to Democrats.

Others at Soros are backing Barbara Buono, the state senator challenging Christie in the fall, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Christie is widely popular in New Jersey, and current polls show him earning twice the support of the less-well-known Buono.
