For the last several years, Ellen Davis has written many a press release trumpeting the arrest or conviction of a hedge fund manager. Now, she'll try her hand at working for them.
Davis will leave her post as chief public information officer for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan to join public relations firm Sard Verbinnen & Co. Sard Verbinnen represents a number of top hedge funds, including SAC Capital Advisors, which is currently battling an insider-trading probe led by Davis' soon-to-be-former office.
Davis, who has a law degree, will not work on the SAC account, Sard Verbinnen said, or "with any other clients currently involved in SDNY investigations."
Davis has worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office for three years. She will leave at the end of the month and join Sard Verbinnen in September. According to Bloomberg News, she approached firm founder George Sard about the move a few weeks ago.
