The private-equity industry is looking positively martial these days.
Less than a month after Kohlberg Kravis Roberts brought former Central Intelligence Agency director and retired General David Petraeus on board as an adviser, the Blackstone Group has done the same with retired general and former presidential candidate Wesley Clark.
Clark will advise Blackstone on energy deals and has joined the board of one of its portfolio companies, Fisterra Energy.
"Helping countries overcome their energy challenges and develop energy security is critical to economic growth and sustainable development," Clark said.
Clark served as supreme allied commander of NATO before retiring from the Army. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for president in 2004, and now runs his own consulting firm.
