BlackRock has nabbed the co-manager of NewSmith Capital Partners' flagship hedge fund to run a British debt vehicle.

Mark Wharrier will become co-manager of the £577.4 million BlackRock UK Income Fund, which has hit on hard times. He will work alongside co-manager Adam Avigdori, who has run the fund on his own since Nick Mcleod-Clarke took long-term sick leave in April, Investment Adviser reports.

Wharrier has led NewSmith's UK Hedge Fund and UK Equity Fund with Steve Thompson.
