At least one hedge fund industry benchmark shows the average fund gaining, rather than losing, ground in August.

The SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index edged up 0.29% last month. Nearly all other industry indices have shown declines of between 0.5% and 1.5% in August.

The SS&C index is up 6.82% on the year.

SS&C Technologies also reported a small net inflow into hedge funds this month, with its Capital Movement Index rising 0.42%.

"Net flows were modestly positive for September, with capital activity falling slightly from previous months," SS&C CEO Bill Stone Said.
