Harbinger Founder's Wife Won't Face Drunk-Driving Charges

Nov 8 2013 | 10:36am ET

Harbinger Capital Management founder Philip Falcone's wife has been cleared of drunk-driving charges.

Lisa Marie Falcone was arrested last September in Bridgehampton, N.Y., after crashing her Mercedes SUV. She admitted to the police that she had had a drink and had taken a prescription painkiller, and was taken into custody even after passing a Breathalyzer test.

With toxicology reports showing only a small amount of alcohol and trace amounts of drugs in her system, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office has elected not to take the case any further. Falcone was also cited for driving with an expired license, but paid a desk ticket for that infraction.

"She is relieved because she wasn't drinking and driving," a source told the New York Post. "Lisa spent six hours in a cell, even though she passed the Breathalyzer test. Phil making a huge scene really didn't help matters."
