Hedge fund governance advisory firm Carne has appointed Chicago-based investment management vet Scott Craven Jones as an independent fund director.

Jones, with a 24-year-track record in the industry, has held senior roles with U.S. investment firms, including COO and CFO of the $10 billion fund of hedge funds, Aurora Investment Management, and EVP and chief administrative officer of Calamos Asset Management.

Jones had worked previously at Northern Trust Global Investments in several capacities, including global chief operating officer of Northern’s passive and quantitative unit, and at Nuveen Investments where he led Nuveen’s municipal separate account business. He began his investment industry career as an attorney at Schiff Hardin & Waite in Chicago.

John Donohoe, CEO of Carne, said in a statement: “With Scott’s appointment we are taking on a highly experienced fund director with a senior level operational track record in the US industry, as well as expanding our footprint in the US with a permanent presence in Chicago.”

Carne now has 24 full-time independent fund directors serving on fund boards around the world.
