New York-based asset manager Coherence Capital Partners has hired Michael Cannon as a senior portfolio manager and partner.

Prior to Coherence Capital, Cannon spent 16 years at UBS Investment Bank, most recently as managing director and co-head of investment grade credit trading. Cannon has extensive experience in trading distressed, high-yield, and investment grade credit.

At UBS, Cannon worked directly for Coherence CEO Sal Naro from 1999 to 2005 in addition to trading alongside Coherence Partners Vincent Mistretta and Greg MacKay. Cannon also worked with fellow Coherence colleagues, Kevin O'Brien, Edgar Benavides and Robert Del Grande.

"I am delighted to have Michael as part of the Coherence Capital team. His proven talent and experience will further enhance our ability to manage fixed income assets at this critical time in our growth, said Sal Naro, Coherence CEO/CIO, in a statement.

Coherence Capital Partners focuses on fixed income opportunities in North America and Europe. Launched in February 2012 as a management buyout from Jefferson National's core insurance unit, it currently has over $250 million under management.
