Evercore Partners, a New York-based investment advisory firm specializing in private equity and venture capital, has name Brian Roberts as managing director. Roberts joins the firm from Microsoft, where he served as corporate vice president.

In his new role, Roberts will establish Evercore's San Francisco-based corporate advisory services business. He will work alongside Michael Price and Richard Emerson, both senior managing directors.

Emerson, who is also a former Microsoft executive, opened Evercore's San Francisco office in 2004 to focus on the firm's private equity investment practice.
