GoldenTree Asset Management has hired Mediobanco's Filippo Sampietro to bolster its European asset-backed trading.

The New York-based hedge fund moved Cee Sarabi to London to oversee the effort in September, and has now added Sampietro, who will report to her, Bloomberg News reports. GoldenTree said it was seeking access to "attractive opportunities" in Europe's structured finance market.

Sampietro worked at Alcentra, Morgan Stanley and the Royal Bank of Scotland before joining Mediobanca.
