SkyBridge Makes ‘U’ Turn, Seeds Special Situation Shop

Emerging hedge fund seeder SkyBridge Capital has invested in U Capital Group, a global special situation value shop.

In addition to infusing U Capital with funds, SkyBridge is providing “business-building support” to the firm, which is led by Jonathan Urfrig, managing partner and risk management head. Urfrig was most recently a portfolio manager at Third Point where he worked from 2002 through 2006.  Prior to that, he worked in private equity at Texas Pacific Group and in merchant and investment banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. 

Anthony Scaramucci, managing partner of SkyBridge Capital, said, “The U Capital team possesses a strong public market and private equity investment background, and we look forward to working together in partnership to build the business. “

U Capital is the eighth and final manager to be seeded out of the firm’s funds, SkyBridge Capital Partners and SkyBridge Capital Ltd.
