Centaurus Global Investment Team Moves To Fortress

May 6 2014 | 1:01pm ET

Centaurus Capital’s founder is taking his strategy—and his team—to Fortress Investment Group.

Randy Freeman and Centaurus Capital’s global investment team is joining Fortress’ liquid markets business. Their group will be renamed the Fortress-Centaurus Global Strategy, focusing on long/short equity and event-driven opportunities.

“We are delighted to join Fortress and have the support to manage third-party capital under our flagship strategy,” Freeman said. “Our goal in seeking a partner was to gain world-class infrastructure, client relationships and business management so that our investment team can focus on what we do best: investing.”

Freeman set up Centaurus Capital with Bernard Oppetit in 2000.

Freeman’s team will work out of Fortress’ offices in Hong Kong, London and New York.
