Investors Increase Hedge Fund Investments In May

Investors continue to steadily add to their hedge fund investments this month, according to a report from SS&C Technologies.

The SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index rose 0.94% this month, and is now just off its record level, set in September. The benchmark calculates net inflows into hedge funds administered on SS&C’s GlobeOp platform.

“Subscriptions outpaced redemptions by two to one, whereas capital activity was down from prior-month levels,” SS&C CEO Bill Stone said.

Stone referred to the fact that hedge funds lost ground in April. The SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index dropped 0.59% on the month, not enough, apparently, to deter investors.
