Hedge fund investors headed for the exits at the highest rate of the year this month, according to data from SS&C Technologies.
The SS&C GlobeOp Forward Redemption Index, which measures forward redemption notices received by hedge funds administered by SS&C’s GlobeOp platform, rose more than a full percentage point this month to 4.32%. That is the highest level since December.
The spike in redemptions isn’t a surprise: It’s happened every May since at least 2008. SS&C CEO Bill Stone said most of the redemptions were “typical semi-annual requests.”
