Och-Ziff Manager Moves To PIMCO

May 30 2014 | 8:57am ET

Rocked by the departure of its number-two executive earlier this year, PIMCO has bolstered its equities team with a former hedge fund manager.

Jason Goldberg was named an executive vice president and portfolio manager at the asset management giant, which is led by Bill Gross. Goldberg will focus on stocks and will report to PIMCO volatility chief Josh Thimons.

Goldberg joins PIMCO from Och-Ziff Capital Management, where he built and managed an equity dispersion and volatility portfolio. Prior to that, he ran a hedge fund of his own, Onyx Capital Management, which Goldberg co-founded in 1998.
