Harvard Event-Driven Specialist To BlackRock

Outgoing Harvard University endowment chief Jane Mendillo might not be managing a hedge fund any time soon, but one of her former staffers will.

Mark McKenna, who ran event-driven portfolios at Harvard Management Co., has joined BlackRock as global head of event-driven equity strategies. In the new role, he’ll launch an event-driven hedge fund later this year.

He’ll also head a new event-driven team at BlackRock, Pensions & Investments reports.
