Edward T. Rose, the former head trader and director of operations at the activist Barington Capital Group, has left to join a tech startup.

Rose will become director of business development at Trefis, which works with leading institutional sell-side firms to present their financial models and analyses in an interactive visual form.

Trefis, which is run by MIT engineers and former Wall Street analysts and consultants, has attracted investment from people like Timothy Weller of Enernoc and Semyon Dukach, the former president of the MIT Blackjack team.
