Yorkville Gets Info. On Whistleblower

Jul 25 2014 | 3:35pm ET

The Securities and Exchange Commission has been forced to reveal an anonymous whistleblower tip that led to a lawsuit against Yorkville Advisors to the hedge fund.

The SEC provided the information to Yorkville in May after a federal judge found that the SEC had failed to submit information in a timely manner justifying its withholding the documents. The regulator did not reveal the identity of the whistleblower, but did disclose that his or her lawyer is Motley Rice’s Rebecca Katz.

The SEC accused Yorkville two years ago of overvaluing assets. The hedge fund has dismissed the allegations and said they were part of a “shakedown.”
