Deutsche Bank has named former GoldenTree Asset Management executive Tom Humphrey the new head of its North American investment-banking and securities business.

Humphrey, a former Lehman Brothers and Barclays executive, spent the past four years at GoldenTree as head of business development. He left the hedge fund in December to take several months off, he said.

Humphrey succeeds Jeff Mayer, who joined Cerberus Capital Management in July.

“With Tom’s record of achievement in sales and trading and asset management, we are confident that he will drive our goals as a top-tier investment bank globally with a leading North America franchise,” new bosses Jacques Brand, Colin Fan and Robert Rankin wrote in an internal memorandum.

At Lehman, Humphrey served as head of fixed-income sales. After moving to Barclays, he worked as head of FICC distribution in the Americas.
