A former Bank of America Merill Lynch hedge-fund salesman has been handed the reins at HSBC’s foreign-exchange sales desk.

Neel Mehta was named senior vice president of FX sales at HSBC. He is charged with expanding the group’s corporate franchise and its currency derivatives business to hedge funds.

HSBC is just the latest stop in Mehta’s long career. He was director of foreign exchange sales at BAML until April. Prior to that, he worked at JPMorgan Chase, Lehman Brothers and ABN Amro.
