The Carlyle Group is planning a second mid-market fund, seeking to raise up to $2 billion for the vehicle.

The private-equity giant is readying its marketing materials for Carlyle Equity Opportunity Fund II, the successor to a $1.1 billion fund it raised two years ago, Bloomberg News reports. That fund has produced annual returns of 26%.

Equity Opportunity I made investments of between $25 million and $150 million in U.S. companies.
