Credit Suisse has poached Nomura Holdings’ Asia capital-introductions head to lead its own business in the region.

Aditi Velakacharia will run the Swiss bank’s Hong Kong-based cap. intro. team, it said today. Velakacharia has worked for Nomura since it acquired Lehman Brothers’ Asian business in 2008; at Lehman, Velakacharia was also head of Asia cap. intro.

The hire comes amidst what Credit Suisse Asia prime-brokerage chief Myo Schollum called “the most significant year for new hedge-fund launches for a long time, with many of them raising meaningful capital.” Credit Suisse is the second-largest prime broker in the region.
