Jana Rises 3.1% In Nov.

Jana Partners may have rescued a lost year with a strong November.

The activist hedge fund rose 3.1% last month, Reuters reports. The gain leaves it up 3.4% on the year, with a month to go.

That’s a far cry from the nearly 13% return posted by the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index this year, but Jana did beat the broad-market index in November, which saw the S&P 500 rise 2.45%.

Jana recently successfully agitated for the naming of a new CEO at Hertz Global Holdings—albeit not their favored man for the job—and is currently preparing for a proxy battle with PetSmart, which it would like to see sold.
