Guidepoint Global Acquires Innosquared

Guidepoint Global has acquired expert services-provider Innosquared in a move designed to expand Guidepoint’s reach into continental Europe.

The acquisition of the Düsseldorf, Germany-based company closed on February 11 for undisclosed terms.

The step continues several years of organic growth at Guidepoint, which provides research services to the advisory, market research, and business strategy communities, and follows the company’s 2009 purchase of Vista Research from Standard & Poor's.

The company’s client roster includes seven of the top ten global consulting firms and seven of the top ten hedge funds.

The company has not been without controversy. Guidepoint has been at the center of several insider-trading cases since the financial crisis, in which individuals retained as experts by the firm allegedly passed confidential information to Guidepoint’s clients.

Since then, the company has revamped its compliance procedures and hired former SEC enforcement attorney Catherine Smith as general counsel.

The Innosquared acquisition positions Guidepoint as the only global expert network with a large research team based in Germany, and one of only two with research locations in the EMEA area.
