Ramius Hires Johnson For Alternatives Platform

Cowen Group’s investment management business Ramius LLC has hired Parker Johnson to be Managing Director, Sales and Marketing. 

Johnson will manage institutional relationships across the Ramius platform, with a special focus on Ramius Alternative Solutions. He will report to Alternative Solutions Group leaders Stuart Davies and Vikas Kapoor in New York.

Johnson was previously with Arden Asset Management, where he focused on institutional sales in North America across the liquidity spectrum. Beforehand, he was with Belenos Capital Management and Ivy Asset Management. Johnon began his career at a trading subsidiary of Tudor Investment Corp. and brings significant experience in alternative strategies to Ramius. 

Ramius’s Alternative Solutions Group offers sophisticated hedge fund investment services including portfolio completion, optimization and hedging as well as a suite of hedge fund-style investment vehicles called Ramius Liquid Portfolios.

Ramius is an alternative investment platform with $12.5 billion in assets under management as of January 1, 2015. The company has been active in liquid alternatives and recently launched an event-driven equity fund, according to a press release.

Founded in 1918, Cowen Group merged with Ramius in June of 2009 as the financial crisis swept through Wall Street. The firm is publicly traded under the symbol COWN.
