Neuberger Berman Adds Long-Short Fund to UCITS Platform

Neuberger Berman is launching a global long-short alternative UCITS fund in response to strong client demand for liquid alternative strategies.

Daniel Geber, who joined the company last year from Man Group, will oversee the new vehicle, named the Neuberger Berman Global Long Short Equity Fund. The new fund will be domiciled in Dublin, Ireland, and joins four other Neuberger Berman UCITS funds on the company’s platform.

The actively managed fund will use both long and short positions and blend both macro and tactical stock analysis to build a global portfolio, according to the company.

Neuberger Berman believes the liquid alternatives UCITS market will expand further as investors face high equity market valuations and low bond yields. The UCITS liquid alternatives market is estimated to be around $200 billion and has been growing quickly since the financial crisis.

Neuberger Berman had total assets under management of $250 billion at the end of last year, including $28 billion in alternatives portfolios.
