Premium pay-TV channel Showtime has ordered 12 episodes of the upcoming hedge fund drama series "Billions."

The show is described as "a complex and contemporary drama about power politics in the New York world of high finance." The show will begin production this year, and premiere on Showtime in 2016.

The show centers an inevitable showdown between a U.S. attorney portrayed by Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti and a brilliant hedge fund manager played by Damian Lewis, who won an Emmy for his role in the show "Homeland."

The cast will also feature Maggie Siff (Sons of Anarchy), Malin Akerman (Trophy Wife), and Condola Rashad.

The show is being written and produced by David Levien and Brian Koppelman, both know for their work on "Ocean's Thirteen" and "Rounders," and New York Times columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin, author of Too Big to Fail.
