Robertson Stephens Advisors announced that Bruce Arella, founder of Ardent Fund Management, has been named President of the East Coast and Midwest Regions; a member of the Executive and Investment Policy Committees; and Director of Real Estate of Robertson Stephens Partners.

Arella has extensive experience in professional investment management working with families, foundations, endowments and institutions. He will be responsible for managing the activities of Robertson Stephens Advisors throughout the East Coast and Midwest. In this capacity, he will continue to expand the firm’s Boston office and establish regional offices in key cities such as New York, Miami, and Chicago.

“In Bruce’s capacity as a member of the Executive and Investment Policy Committees, his years of experience will be invaluable in adding to our capabilities in all asset classes, especially alternative asset classes,” said Joe Piazza, Chairman and CEO. “He’s a valuable addition to our team given his experience in building and overseeing wealth management businesses.”

Before joining Robertson Stephens, Arella was a Partner and Head of Real Estate at We Family Offices overseeing the firm’s real estate and real assets activities including direct real estate investments and limited partnerships. As Partner and President of the New York office for GenSpring, he helped build the family office to $20 billion in assets under advisement.

Arella began his career as co-head trader at Standard & Poor's Securities before founding Ardent Fund Management, an equity long/short hedge fund, in 2000. He would go on to become Managing Director and Director of Manager Research at Orion Capital Management.

“Bruce is well known and highly respected in the East Coast financial community. He will have an influence across all of our business units, not just our core wealth advisory business,” said Piazza.

“I am thrilled to be a partner with such an iconic brand and the rich history of Robertson Stephens,” said Arella. “After meeting Joe, it was clear our wealth advisory and investment management vision were completely aligned. Robertson Stephens’ transparent, dynamic business model will enhance our client’s experience. As our clients’ advocate, the synergies and flexibility across our platform, coupled with deep investment experience, will help our clients to strategically grow their wealth.”
