Market Vectors Long/Short Equity Indices Post Mixed Performance In July

Aug 3 2015 | 12:21pm ET

Market Vectors has announced the July performance of its six investable Long/Short Equity indices.

The indices seek to capture the systematic returns, or beta, of hedge funds with similar investment styles that invest in the same asset classes and same geographic markets but without hedge fund pricing, opaqueness and redemption restrictions, according to a press release.

Each of the six is constructed using transparent, liquid ETFs and U.S. Treasury securities in a patented process designed to capture the beta return of statistically similar hedge funds.

The Market Vectors Index Solutions team currently offers four regional and two global long/short equity indices.

For July 2015, the company’s Emerging Markets L/S Equity Index, the Western Europe L/S Equity Index and the Global L/S Equity Index posted returns of 0.26%, 1.80% and 1.61%, respectively.

Conversely, the Market Vectors North America L/S Equity Index lost -1.05% during the period, while the company’s Asia L/S Equity Index lost -1.88%.

Frankfurt-based Market Vectors Index Solutions is a subsidiary of Van Eck Global and focuses on investable index products.
