Barclays Promotes Aram to Head of Asia-Pacific Credit Trading

Global investment bank Barclays has made several executive appointments within its Asia Pacific region. 

The company’s current head of distressed debt in Asia, Alex Aram, has been promoted to head of credit trading for the Asia Pacific region. 

Aram, who is based in Japan, will oversee Barclays' regional credit business across investment grade, high yield and distressed debt, according to Reuters. The bank has merged the three segments into one management structure.

In his new role, Aram will work together with Ellis Thomas, head of credit sales for the region and based in Singapore, to manage the Barclay’s credit business.

Meanwhile, Barclays also announced the hiring of former Standard Chartered executives James Magsuci and Simon Moore. The two will work as head of as a sovereign trader in Singapore and credit sales for Singapore, respectively. At the same time, the bank named Karen Yeung as head of credit sales for Hong Kong.

The London-based bank is ramping up its Asian footprint as it executes a growth plan announced in late July, hiring investment bankers for corporate business and deepening resources dedicated to macro, trade flows and fixed income businesses.
