Harvard Adds Friedman, Stein to Endowment Board

Harvard University’s $36.4 billion endowment has added Canyon Partners co-founder Joshua Friedman and former Federal Reserve governor Jeremy Stein to its board.

Friedman started Canyon Partners in 1990 after working on mergers and acquisistions for Goldman Sachs and Drexel Burnham Lambert, according to a Bloomberg article. He spent a lot of time at Harvard, earning undergraduate, law and business degrees from the institution. 

Stein, meanwhile, took a break from teaching economics at Harvard to serve as a member of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors for two years. He has since returned to teaching at Harvard and has also become a consultant to hedge fund BlueMountain Capital Management.

The appointments became effective on July 1, according to Bloomberg.
