Nikko Asset Management Hires Marechal for EM Debt Role

Nikko Asset Management has hired former BlackRock emerging market debt specialist Raphael Marechal.

Marechal joins as a senior portfolio manager on Nikko’s global fixed income team led Andre Severino. He will be based in London. 

“Despite recent volatility, there are still immense opportunities in the emerging markets debt space and we look forward to working with Raphael to develop new products for institutional investors,” said Severino in a statement. 

Marechal joined BlackRock in 2012 and was a senior member of the firm’s emerging markets team. Beforehand, he was with BNP Paribas Investment Partners and Fortis Investments.

Tokyo-based Nikko Asset Management is one of Asia’s largest investment managers, with more than $146 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2015.
