AXA Investment Managers has named Michael Ganske as head of emerging markets fixed income.

Ganske joins from Rogge Global Partners, where he was a partner and head of emerging markets. He will lead a global team of 12 investment professionals based in London, Paris, Hong Kong and Mexico, managing approximately €5 billion of EM and Asian debt across three flagship mutual funds and several segregated institutional mandates.

Ganske’s appointment will become effective in May. It follows AXA IM’s decision last June to create a global emerging markets fixed income team in support of the continued attractiveness of the EM asset class. He will be based in AXA IM’s London office and will report to AXA IM”s CIO Fixed Income, Chris Iggo.

Ganske has more than 15 years of experience in the emerging market fixed income space, according to the company. Before his role at Rogge Global Partners, he was a managing director and divisional head of emerging market research at Commerzbank and was Head of EM at Deka Investment GmbH. Earlier in his career, he was an emerging market fixed income portfolio manager with Deutsche Bank’s DWS Investments.

“We are pleased to welcome Michael on board and confident that his in-depth experience will further enhance our global emerging markets fixed income team and capabilities,’ said John Porter, Global Head of Fixed Income at AXA IM. “Michael is a key appointment for our team and demonstrates the scale of our ambition in this space.”

Founded in 1994, AXA IM managed more than €669 billion in assets at the end of 2015 from 29 offices in 21 countries. The company is part of the AXA Group, a global leader in financial protection and wealth management.
