Mezzanine capital specialist Yukon Partners Management has hired Michael Furey as a partner on its investment team.

Furey will work closely with the firm’s investment professionals in sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, and providing operational expertise and counsel to sponsor partners, the company noted in a statement. He will be based in Boston, MA.

Prior to joining Yukon, Furey was a partner at Halyard Capital, a private equity firm that focuses on control and junior capital investments in business services, media, and communications companies. At Halyard, he sourced and executed new investments, led the firm’s Healthcare IT initiative, and served on the boards of multiple portfolio companies. Beforehand, he was an investment manager with Capital Resource Partners, a private investment firm that focuses on subordinated debt and equity investments.

“Mike brings a wealth of investment experience along with quality industry relationships that will further our core strategy at Yukon,” said William Dietz, founder and managing partner of Yukon, in the statement. “We are excited to have [him] as a member of the Yukon team and consider him a principle-centered leader in our organization.”

Founded by Dietz and fellow Norwest Mezzanine Partners executive Michael Hall in 2008, Minnesota-based Yukon works with primarily middle-market companies on transactions including buyouts, recapitalizations, acquisitions, and refinancings. The company’s investments take the form of subordinated debt, preferred equity, and minority common stock.
