GAMCO Rehires Alfandary To Lead ESG Efforts

Global investment manager GAMCO Investors has rehired Christina Alfandary as managing director for ESG & Sustainable Investments.

Alfandary, who has nearly thirty years of institutional SRI experience, will expand GAMCO’s ESG capabilities and its leadership in sustainable investing, according to a statement. The role is new and reflects GAMCO’s view that global economic drivers continue to be affected by resource scarcity and that client demand for ESG solutions will accordingly continue to grow.

Prior to returning to GAMCO, Alfandary spent more than ten years at Nikko Asset Management Americas, leaving last year as co-head of the Americas and senior managing director. Beforehand, she was focused on institutional and high net worth marketing for GAMCO from 2000 to 2005, and spent nearly ten years at Morgan Stanley in institutional fixed income sales and trading.

“This is a natural and logical extension of the work we have been doing in SRI for several decades,” said Christopher Desmarais, managing director of GAMCO, in the statement. “Christina is uniquely qualified for this position, given her prior experience in ESG investing. Her past tenure at GAMCO is an additional plus.”

Founded in 1976 by Mario Gabelli, GAMCO Investors manages approximately $38.7 billion across private advisory accounts, alternative investments, mutual funds and closed-end funds.
