Bear Stearns yesterday named Michael Minikes the head of its global clearing and prime brokerage business. Minikes, who will serve as CEO of Bear Stearns Securities Corp., was instrumental in setting up the Wall Street giant’s prime brokerage in the 1980s, and establishing BSSC in 1991.

“Mike has played a tremendous role in making Bear Stearns’ clearing business one of the finest in the industry,” Bear CEO Alan Schwartz said. “As CEO of BSSC, Mike’s depth of knowledge, leadership and strong client relationships will continue to benefit the firm and our clients greatly.”

As CEO, Minikes will oversee both the prime brokerage business and the firm’s correspondent clearing clients.
