Former Graphic Packaging CEO Scheible Joins Clayton, Dubilier & Rice as Operating Advisor

Private equity manager Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) has appointed David Scheible to the role of operating advisor to the company’s buyout funds. 

Scheible is the former chairman and CEO of Graphic Packaging International, a former CD&R portfolio company, into a global packaging leader. Under his leadership, the company sales grew by 79%, EBITDA margins expanded by nearly 500 basis points, and the stock price increased 166%, according to the company. Scheible drove the $1.75 billion merger between Graphic Packaging and Altivity Packaging in 2007 creating a new leader in global packaging.

Prior to serving as CEO of Graphic Packaging, Scheible held various senior leadership positions at the firm including CEOO and EVP of Commercial Operations. Before joining Graphic Packaging, he held senior leadership positions at Avery Dennison Corporation after starting his career at B.F. Goodrich Corporation.

Scheible is the second senior executive to join CD&R's deep bench of operational advsiors this year. The company named retired Boeing Company chairman and CEO James McNerney as a senior advisor to the company’s funds back in March.

Founded in 1978, New York-based CD&R is a private investment firm that has managed the investment of $21 billion in 66 businesses since inception.
