Tages Capital Launches New L/S Equity UCITS Fund with Anavon Capital

Tages Capital has launched a new liquid alternative global long/short equity fund in partnership with Anavon Capital.

The new fund, named the Anavon Global Equity Long/Short UCITS Fund, is the second single-strategy, UCITS-compliant sub-fund of Tages’ Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV. It is launching with $28 million of institutional capital with follow-on commitments in excess of $30 million, the company said in a statement.

The company’s first single-strategy fund under the SICAV, a global long/short credit fund, launched in May in tandem with Fore Research and Management.

Anavon, a specialist long/short equity manager, seeks to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns by employing deep fundamental research coupled with a value-oriented approach to order to identify long and short opportunities, the company said. It invests across developed markets into strong, quality businesses undergoing severe price dislocations, and employs a short strategy that both enhances alpha and adds downside protection.

“Tages has been a long-standing investor in Anavon’s funds and we are pleased to be developing our partnership further,” said Jamie Kermisch, CEO of Tages Capital, in a statement. “With significant capital invested at launch, we believe that the Anavon Global Equity Long/Short UCITS Fund provides investors with access to a highly experienced team with a strong track record of delivering high quality returns at a lower volatility than the broader global equity market.

This fund adds another differentiated strategy to Tages’s range of UCITS alternative funds,” Kermisch added.

“Anavon is delighted with this partnership to offer the Anavon global long/short equity strategy to UCITS investors,” added Justin Denham, COO of Anavon Capital. “Anavon’s fundamentally-driven research approach is focused on selecting individual stocks to deliver alpha across both our long and short books."

"With Tages representing one of the most active firms investing in the fast growing UCITS alternatives segment, this fund will broaden our client base and enable us to attract new interest in our strategy,” he said.

London-based Tages Capital is a leading seed investor and the alternative asset management business of Tages Group. The firm has approximately $2.3 billion in assets under management deployed in a wide array of alternative multi-manager and single manager portfolios and investment strategies, including infrastructure and energy funds.

Anavon Capital, also based in London, is a specialist investment manager established in 2011 currently managing approximately $190 million in its global equity long/short strategy.
