Polar Capital Adds U.S. Salesman

British hedge fund manager Polar Capital has added Société Générale’s Alastair Smith to its sales team.

Smith, who led hedge fund sales to Europe and the Middle East at Société Générale Asset Management, will focus on the U.S. and Swiss markets at Polar. Before joining SGAM, he worked at Aspect Capital, GAM and the Man Group.

Polar managed over US$3.6bn in assets in both long and long/short strategies as of the end of November 2007.
