Active Investment Advisors Changes Name, Becomes Active Index Advisors

Active Investment Advisors, a division of Natixis Global Asset Management, has changed its name to Active Index Advisors in an effort to better describe the company’s commitment to combining active management with index management.

The name change is effective immediately, the company said in a statement August 29.

Active Index Advisors was founded in 2002 and seeks to maximize returns for clients after taxes using index-based separately-managed accounts. The company's strategies combine the transparency and low tracking error traditionally associated with index investing with the tax control and flexibility of SMAs, according to its website.

The name change does not imply any change in ownership, people or process at Active Index Advisors, which will continue to provide services for the SMA business of Natixis Global Asset Management.

“Our name change better explains the investment solutions we offer to our clients,” said Kevin Maeda, CIO of Active Index Advisors, in the statement. “These solutions are both active and passive as we provide active management along with the diversification, risk management, and low cost of index management.”

Based in Paris, Natixis Global Asset Management is one of the world’s largest asset management firms. Uniting over 20 specialized investment managers globally, the firm manages approximately $874 billion across a diverse range of investment solutions and strategies. It is part of Natixis, the international corporate, investment, insurance and financial services arm of France’s Groupe BPCE.
